New Year's 2020 Goal Setting

The new year is a great time to reflect on your successes and consider areas in your life that may need improvement. Use this time to set goals. It is not enough to say "I am going to try harder." The way you improve your life is to set a plan and follow through. Below are a video and links to help you achieve your goals. The Counseling Department is also giving out resources on how to start. Feel free to stop by our office during lunch. Mrs. Pafumi and Mrs. Roczey are also asking students to set their "2020 Vision." Be sure to see them to post your vision on our board.

Study Skills

Thank you Counselor Clique for the Toilet Talk Tips. Be sure to check them out in the bathroom stall near you!
  • Use an agenda or planner to keep up with your assignments (digital calendars like Google Calendar or iCal work, too!)
  • Ask questions to your teachers throughout the year about the material...don’t wait until the last minute to learn everything you didn’t understand
  • Take advantage of test/quiz reviews
  • Attend tutoring before or after school
  • Make friend in class, so you can form a study group
  • Get enough sleep at night
  • Designate a specific place in your house to study and do your homework
  • Plug your phone in on the other side of the room, so you can work undistracted

Belonging

We all have a need to feel like we belong. We all want to feel our true selves around each other. Accomplishing this always takes us on our own personal journey of growth. Let it be your goal to take more social risks. Join a club, reach out to someone new, be a good listener. It's not always easy, but the payoff can lead to wonderful, fulfilling relationships. We wish you luck on your social journeys and know we are always here if you need a hand.
